Our
World of Youth Scholarship Program Guidelines
Purpose:
To encourage and promote academic scholarship for our young women and
young men in our Fraternal Youth Organizations as well as members of the
Order of Eastern Star in Indiana.
Program
process: Each year the Worthy Grand Matron-of the Indiana Grand Chapter of the Order of
the Easter Star appoints a State Chairman and District Chairmen to Our
World of Youth to raise funds to be awarded to eligible students
determined by the Scholarship Awards Committee.
Timeframe:
Applications may be submitted anytime before the deadline (generally late
April) so the Awards Committee might meet to decide eligibility of the
applicants and the amount of the award based on funds available in May and
the results announced at Grand Chapter in June.
Eligibility:
Applicant must be a member of any one of the following:
International Order
of Rainbow for Girls
International
Order of Job's Daughters
DeMolay
International
Order
of the Eastern Star of Indiana
Type
of Award: The scholarship will be awarded for the following semester with
consideration going to first time applicants.
The
Scholarship Awards Committee expects the following requirements to be met
in order to be considered:
1:
Applicant must attend a school of higher learning such as a
college,
university, trade school, etc.
2:
High School Transcript and/or College transcript if applicable
3:
List of
extra-curricular activities
4:
List of Awards and Scholarships received
5:
List of community service and work experience
6:
Letter of recommendation from a youth group counselor or Worthy Matron of
the Eastern Star Chapter.
7:
Must be postmarked by April 10, 2011
Each
applicant will be notified by mail (to their permanent mailing address on
the application) immediately after the Awards Committee May meeting in
regards to the findings of the committee.
