THOUGHTS TO CONTEMPLATE

1.      ‘Someone blended the plaster,

      And someone carried the stone.

Neither the man nor the Master

      Ever has built alone.

Making a roof from the weather,

Building a house for a king

      Only by working together

      Have we accomplished a thing.’

2.      From the 1975 Grand Chapter Proceedings…

“I am a person who asked for a petition, I’m the person who was accepted, paid my initiation

fee and my annual dues and stood up in front of all of you, made a promise to be loyal and

     faithful as a member.

After joining, I am the person that for a long while attended every meeting, but it seemed that few ever paid too much attention to me.

In every way, I tried to be friendly to some of the members, but they seemed to have their buddy that they wished to visit with.

Many times I sat among unfamiliar faces, and they didn’t pay too much attention to me either.

Many a time I wanted to do something to help, but no one ever seemed to see my outstretched hand as a volunteer.

I missed my first meeting because of sickness in the immediate family for the first time since becoming a member.  I felt I was needed at home.  Apparently no one even missed me for no one ever inquired about my absence.  Guess it didn’t matter whether I was there or not.

Most people would consider me a good person, one holding a good position of responsibility, one who loves our country, as well as having good religious convictions.  I am also that member that never came back to a meeting.

3.      I see you at the meetings, but you never say hello,

You’re busy all the time you’re there, with those you already know.

I sit amongst the members, yet I’m a lonesome guy

The new ones are as strange as I, but you old members pass me by.

But darn it, you folks welcomed us in and talked of Fellowship,

You could just step across the room, but you never made the trip.

Why can’t you nod and say hello, or stop and shake my hand,

Then go and sit among your friends, now that I’d understand.

I’ll be at your next meeting, perhaps a nice time to spend,

Do you think you could introduce yourself?

I want to be YOUR FRIEND.

THOUGHTS continued…

4.      If you think you are beaten, you are.

If you think you dare not, you don’t.

If you like to win, but think you can’t,

            It’s almost a cinch you won’t.

If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost

For out in the world we find

Success begins with a fellow’s will

It’s all in the state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed, you are.

You’ve got to think high to rise.

You’ve got to be sure of yourself before

You can ever win a prize.

      Life’s battles don’t always go

To the stronger or faster man,

But sooner or later, the man who wins

Is the man who thinks he can.

                                    Walter D. Wintle

A goal is a dream with a deadline!

The person who hides his light under a bushel is not likely to set the world on fire.

There are three kinds of people—

            Those who watch things happen,

            Those who make things happen,

And those who wonder what happened.   Which are you???

You often find the big apples on the top of the basket, but you must remember the little ones are holding them up.

Worry is like a rocking chair—it will give you something to do, but it won’t get you anywhere.
